Arlene Mae Pete
Arlene Mae Pete, age 84, passed away peacefully on Fri. Apr. 14, 2017 at Agrace Hospice Care in Fitchburg.
She was born at home in the Honey Creek Township to the late Nelson and Marjorie (Tooley) Sprecher. She was a graduate of Prairie du Sac High School in 1950. Arlene married James Cecka in 1951 and later married Robert “Bob” Pete on Mar. 17, 1962; he preceded her in death on Mar. 2, 1991. She grew up on the farm in Honey Creek and this instilled her hardworking work ethic and her love for nature and animals. Arlene worked at her sister’s restaurant, Lou’s Cafe in Sauk City, at Badger Ordinance, and for many years as a C.N.A. at Maplewood Nursing Home in Sauk City and in the Madison area. Her favorite occupation was being a mother to her children and really cherished her time spent with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Arlene enjoyed gardening, canning, caring for animals, needlepoint and crafts, playing cards and board games.
She is survived by her children, Kaye (Gordon) Brickner, Suzanne (Rob Ray) Savoy, Cyndi (Peter) Welbourne, David (Shirley) Pete, Don (Chris) Pete; 19 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Schreiner. Arlene is further survived by many other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband Bob, she was preceded in death by daughters, Vicki Meyer and Sandy Pete-Davis; great granddaughter, Morgan Perteete; her sister, Lou Sprecher; brothers, Donald, Russell, Eldred, Carroll “Dutch”, and Ralph.
Arlene’s family would like to thank Agrace Hospice for their wonderful care.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am on Sat. May 20, 2017 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Black Hawk. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of service.
