A Janesville apartment building is an entire loss after a fire Sunday afternoon.

Rock County dispatch received a call at 3:31 p.m. for an apartment fire at 2826 Holiday Dr.

Thirteen different agencies, including the Janesville Fire Department, worked on the scene.

Ronald Bomkamp, the battalion chief from the Janesville Fire Department, said the building is a total loss and four units have fire damage in the 12-unit building.

Bomkamp said the other units have smoke and water damage.

The fire also started outside the building, according to Bomkamp, and all residents are displaced.

He said the people who live in the eight units that don’t have fire damage can return inside tonight to grab their belongings.

Janesville Police have closed Holiday Drive between North Pontiac and Carrousel Lane due to the fire, but the road has since reopened.

Officials said one Evansville firefighter was injured, suffering a cut to his hand.

The Red Cross said it’s helping about 20 people from 9 apartment units with housing Sunday night. It said they will receive vouchers for hotel accommodations.
