Another round of snow hits northern Wisconsin
Northern Wisconsin has already received a foot of snow
MILWAUKEE — Round two of an early winter-like storm has brought additional snow to northern Wisconsin.
Residents to the north were already digging out from a foot of new snow or more. Observers reported 13 inches at Sarona in Washburn County early Tuesday morning, 12 inches at Poplar in Douglas County and 11 inches in Minocqua.
The National Weather Service says a trained spotter reports a two-day total of 22.5 inches of snow 2 miles northwest of Mellen in Ashland County.
In northern Wisconsin, the storm dumped nearly 2 feet of snow in Lac du Flambeau, 19 inches in Winchester, 16.6 inches near Phelps and 14 inches in Sayner, all in Vilas County. Snow is continuing.
Some students had the day off, with Rhinelander, Ashland, Wabeno and Florence among school districts canceling classes.
