CROSS PLAINS, WI — Ann E. Walden, age 76, died peacefully surrounded by her family at Agrace Hospice on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014 after succumbing to breathing complications from pneumonia.

She was born on Oct. 25, 1937 in Madison, WI to Peter J. and Marjorie A. Morgan. She graduated from Argyle High School in 1955, attended UW-Whitewater and obtained her bachelor’s degree from the University of California-Long Beach. Ann was a life-long learner, obtaining her Master’s degree at UW-Whitewater and continued her education for years to come coming just three credits shy of her doctoral degree. She then shared her knowledge with others by teaching business classes at James Madison Memorial high school for 31 years. Ann was the head of her department and also headed the yearbook publication. A highlight of her career was achieving the “Wisconsin Business Educator of the Year” award. After her retirement from teaching, Ann served as the town clerk of the town of Cross Plains.

In her retirement, she enjoyed travelling with her husband in their motor home, playing bridge with friends, reading, bird watching and crossword puzzles.

Ann is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Harlan G. Walden, her three loving daughters, Kathleen Nelson (Bill) of Minneapolis, Mary Lehrer of Madison, and Lynn Eve (John) of Cumming, her brothers Mike Morgan of Stoughton, Tom Morgan (Carole) of Monroe, and Steve Morgan (Madeline) of Barneveld and her eight grandchildren, Nick, Patrick, Paul, Eric, Natalie, Alex, Kyle, and Joel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2947 Thinnes Street, Cross Plains at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 15, 2014 with Father Thomas Kelley presiding. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, February 14, 2014 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and also on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church. A luncheon will follow the service.
