Andersen like Badgers’ grit
UW fights through adversity
MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin football beat South Florida Saturday 27-10, but the game was far from perfect. Wisconsin turned the ball over once and their passing offense struggled again. Even so, a turning point occurred in the second half.
With the Badgers leading 20-10, South Florida’s Kennard Swanson hauled in a Mike White pass for a gain of 52 yards. However, at the end of the play, Wisconsin freshman Lubern Figaro forced a fumble. The ball was scooped up by Vince Biegel and Wisconsin scored a touchdown on the ensuing drive to put the game away 27-10.
It’s that kind of play that Andersen notes as a reason he likes his team. They fight through adversity no matter how dire the circumstance.
“That’s not some coach drawing it up on a board saying ‘when you blow a wheel route, run 60 yards down the field, put your head on the ball, knock it out, then make sure it doesn’t go out of bounds.’ We don’t talk about that. It’s great to see things like that.”
Wisconsin opens conference play Saturday when they visit Northwestern.
