American Players Theatre receives grant for ‘Art in the Woods’ showcase

APT Art in the Woods grant

SPRING GREEN, Wis. — The American Players Theatre received a tourism grant to help fund its second summer of “Arts in the Woods” from July 19 through Sept. 6.

According to a news release, the theater was granted $39,500 from the Wisconsin Department of Tourism to help promote the event through print, digital and social media channels throughout the Midwest. It is the second year APT has applied for and gotten the grant.

The seven-week ‘Arts in the Woods’ exhibit will feature 12 art installations by regional artists, within three categories: What is Classic, Nature is Art and Our Community Humanity.

“Art audiences crave engagement and want to dig deeper in the experience,” said APT Managing Director Carrie Hallgren. “Nearly 60% of our patrons drive more than a hour to get here and it’s important to welcome them with an interactive and beautiful experience.”

Visitors can explore the 110-acre grounds by taking backstage tours, picnicking, gathering with friends and learning about theater.
