American Family pledges $40M to UW over 10 years
The University of Wisconsin-Madison and American Family Insurance announced an expansion of their partnership Thursday with AmFam pledging $40 million to the school over 10 years.
The agreement doubles the company’s support for research and academics, including insurance-related programs in the school of business and the career initiative, which pushes sophomores to think long-term about their career choice.
The agreement also continues American Family’s support of UW Athletics.
“The 10-year agreement that we’re formally announcing today formalizes our existing partnership and adds new elements that provide value to the university and help further our research, our academics and our athletic programs,” UW chancellor Rebecca Blank said.
The UW connection with American Family goes back to the company’s founder, Herman Wittwer, who graduated from UW in 1911.
