American Family Insurance transforms IT department

American Family Insurance to merge with Florida-based insurance company

MADISON, Wis.– American Family Insurance said it will contract an outside company to run technology services, bringing a transformation to its IT department, according to a spokesperson.

American Family Insurance Media Relations Director Ken Muth said approximately 200 positions are affected and those employees and contractors are given the option to train for a different skill, apply for other positions within American Family Insurance and associated companies, apply for positions with the third-party vendor or separate from the company.

“We are an enterprise that’s transforming how we use ever-changing technology to serve our customers, agency owners and employees. Investing in our employees’ development is part of this transformation, and foundational for their success and that of our company. We expect this investment in our people and continued growth will lead to more employee positions and even stronger service and value for our customers,” Muth wrote in an email to News 3 Now.

The transition will take three to six months, allowing time for employees and contractors to train for a new skill if they choose to do so, according to Muth.

Muth said American Family Insurance welcomes all those affected to choose the process of learning a new skill within the company, adding that there is no limit to how many can choose that path.
