Investigators: Driver failed to negotiate sharp curve
JAMESTOWN TOWNSHIP, Wis. — An ambulance crashed in rural Grant County while transporting a patient to the hospital, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Department.
Investigators said the ambulance from Hazel Green was dispatched Wednesday to help a person who had collapsed. The ambulance was taking the patient to a hospital when it went into the ditch on the east side of Rock Cut Road and tipped on its side at about 12:38 p.m.
The driver, Ryan C. Fields, 25, lost control of the ambulance on a sharp curve, according to deputies.
Another ambulance took the patient from the crash scene to Finley Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa.
Fields and Julie A. Neis, 51, who was an emergency medical technician in the back of the ambulance at the time of the crash, received minor injuries and were taken to Mercy Hospital.
