Alleged drunken driver uninjured, 2 child passengers injured
Police: 28-year-old driver failed to negotiate curve, lost control, stopped in ditch
TOWN OF TRENTON, Wis. — An alleged drunken driver was not injured in a single-vehicle crash, but her two children sustained non-life-threatening injuries, Dodge County officials said.
Dodge County sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a vehicle crash on Highway 68 near Laurel Hill Road in the town of Trenton around 8:55 p.m., according to a release.
Investigators said the vehicle had been traveling eastbound on Highway 68, failed to negotiate a curve and lost control coming to rest in the north ditch.
The driver, a 28-year-old female from Waupun, was not injured, but her children, a 4-year-old boy and 8-year-old girl, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
“It is disturbing that a parent would choose to drive impaired with two young children in the vehicle, putting their children’s lives at risk,” Dodge County Sheriff Patricia Ninmann said in the release. “Thankfully the injuries were not severe and that no other vehicles were involved.”
The woman was arrested on tentative charges of operating while intoxicated causing injury with minor passengers, according to the release.
