Alice Mary Cerro

MONONA- Alice Mary (Everett) Cerro, age 90, of Monona, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, surrounded by her family at the Agrace Hospice Center in Fitchburg.

Alice was born to Reinhold and Mary (Pionke) Everett on March 26, 1924, in Plainfield, Wis. and enjoyed many happy days with her five brothers and six sisters on their family farm. Alice married the love of her life Frank Joseph Cerro on April 26, 1943, and they were happily married for 35 years. Alice was a devoted mother, grandmother and sister and loved her family. She worked for the City of Madison in the City Treasurer and Assessor’s Offices for almost 35 years and was a kind-hearted public servant. After her retirement, she made many new friends and loved her daily lunches at Heritage Monona where she lived.

She will be greatly missed by her only child, Nancy (Cory) Bills of Madison; her grandchildren, Andrew Bills of Sun Prairie and Lori Anne Bills of Milwaukee, whom she loved and adored (xoxoxo Grandma Nana); her sisters, Mary Ann Haarklau and Helen (Wayne) Jacobson; brother Arnold Everett; sister-in-law, Pauline Cerro; and many relatives.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Frank in 1983; her parents; brothers, Martin, Frank, Raymond and Richard; and her sisters, Betty, Louise, Rose and Mildred; and many relatives. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St., Monona, at 11:30 a.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Monday, Nov. 10, 2014, and at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday. Special thanks to Alice’s Hospice Home Care Team Lesly, Lish, Stephanie and Caitlyn whom she called her “little earth angels” and to the entire medical staff at Agrace who cared for Alice with compassion, love and support.
