Alice M. Klein, 79, of Platteville, died on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Manor Care Health Services, Platteville.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2014 at First English Lutheran Church, Platteville. Rev. Michael Short will officiate. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2014 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, or from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Monday, at the church.
Memorials may be made to the Alice M. Klein Memorial Fund. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family.

Alice was born on May 15, 1935 in Kendall Township, Lafayette County the daughter of Henry L. and Mabel H. (Bockhop) Mester, Jr. She was united in marriage to Merle L. Klein on June 29, 1957 at Peace Lutheran Church, Belmont. She graduated from Belmont High School and attended Madison Business College. She worked for a short time at the state capital in Madison.
Alice worked at UW-Platteville for 27 years at the Karrmann Library in the circulation department. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church, Platteville. She enjoyed dancing and crocheting.
Alice is survived by her husband, Merle; two children, Kevin (Christene) Klein of Platteville; Karla (Otis) Hareid of Verona, WI; two grandchildren, Kamille (Kitrek) Riese of Waukesha, WI; Anthony “Tony” Klein of Rhinelander, WI; great-granddaughter, Chelsea Riese. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Lila Melby and brother-in-law, Bill Melby.
