Alice L. McGaw
Alice L. McGaw, age 84, formerly of Fitchburg, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Dec. 29, 2017.
She was born on Aug. 18, 1933, in Eagle Corners, Wis., on the family farm, the daughter of Herbert Adams and Mary (Ruzicka) Adams. Alice worked for the State of Wisconsin for over 20 years; and was a former member of the Fitchburg Lions Club. She also spent time volunteering at the Fitchburg Senior Center. She was very independent, self-assured and had a great sense of humor. Alice loved to play cards and excelled at Euchre.
She loved being outdoors, gardening and spending time at their family cottage in Richland County, especially watching the hummingbirds. She enjoyed painting and crafts and was an avid Packers fan.
Alice is survived by her four children, Denise Meier, Kimberly (David) Nelson, Mitchell McGaw and Leslea Lechten; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren, with one on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Stan; two son-in-laws, Carl Meier and Jeff Lechten; sisters, Jean Jorgenson and Catherine Brown; and brothers, Herbert Adams and James Adams. She was dearly loved and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held at the KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS, 5256 Verona Rd, Fitchburg, Wis., on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dane County Humane Society, Second Harvest food bank or the charity of your choosing.
