Alfred I. Ostrander III
MIDDLETON-Alfred I. “Bud” Ostrander, III, age 72, peacefully passed away on Monday, August 6, 2012, after a six year battle with cancer. He was born on April 29, 1940, in Minneapolis, MN., the son of Alfred I, Jr. and Marjorie (LaPole) Ostrander. Bud was united in marriage to the love of his life, Patricia “Trish” Curtis on November 27, 1981. His 23 year Navy career stationed him in Bermuda, Florida, Maine and Great Lakes, Il as well as numerous temporary deployment stations worldwide. During his active service, he flew air crew on seaplanes and later was a basic electricity and electronics instructor. After retiring from the Navy, he received his teaching degree and returned to the navy base continuing as a civilian instructor.
He retired fully in 1995 after which he and Trish enjoyed traveling and camping in their little T@B trailer. A visit with him held the promise of an animated, descriptive sea story, of which he had many. Being a “man of action”, he followed his passions which included his “cute” pocket rocket, which is a souped up Mercedes Benz Smart Car and enjoyed flying gliders and tandem parachute jumping often remarking how he jumped out of a “perfectly good airplane”! Bud was very inquisitive and wanted to know the particulars of everything and anything that peaked his interest.
