ALERT DAY: Severe storms possible tonight
TIMING AND IMPACTS
Right now all of the area is under a SLIGHT RISK (Level 2 out of 5) for severe storms, with some areas under an ENHANCED RISK (Level 3 out of 5), especially west of Madison.
Timing for the storms will generally be in the late evening and early overnight hours.
The primary risks will be for high winds upwards of 60 to 70 MPH in spots. Hail up to quarter sized will also be possible, along with the potential for heavy downpours.
With the risk for severe weather now within 24 hours, now is the time to take action to ensure that you’re prepared for whatever storms may come your way.
This includes planning ahead. With the expected timing of storms being during a time where many are sleeping, having a weather radio on hand to wake you should a warning be issued for your location is recommended. Also, take time to secure loose lawn items to help keep them from flying away in strong winds. Be sure to charge devices just in case of a power outage.
