Albert Lester Fletcher
Albert Lester Fletcher, age 71 of Benton, formerly of Platteville and the Blanchardville/Hollandale area, died on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the Walnut Acres adult family home. He was born at the Madison General Hospital on June 25, 1946 to Wilmer & Lorna (Olday) Fletcher. He lived in Green County as a child and teenager. He moved to the Hollandale area in 1969, where he lived with the Walt & Lucille Broughton family, and then the Robin & Kaye Gilbertson family for many years. In recent years he lived in Platteville, and then moved in 2016 to Walnut Acres. Albert worked at the Southwest Opportunities Center in Lancaster for years where he loved working on cleaning the building. He really enjoyed watching the Price Is Right on TV. Albert enjoyed the outdoors and being on the farms he lived on. His friendly, up-beat personality will be remembered always.
Albert is survived by many friends, including Tim and Deana Lawrence who welcomed Albert into their Walnut Acres home and cared for him as one of their own family; Robin and Kaye Gilbertson; and the extended family of Walt & Lucille (Burns) Broughton, who all also enjoyed having him as one of their extended family while he lived with them. His friends amongst the clients and staff at the Southwest Opportunities Center were also part of his family.
A celebration of Albert’s life will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at 2:15 PM at the Southwest Opportunities Center in Lancaster. The Saether Funeral Home in Blanchardville is assisting the family. Online memories and condolences can be shared at www.saetherfuneralhome.com
