Alan Thomas Jones
Alan Thomas Jones, age 68, passed away peacefully at his home on Tues. Jan., 16, 2018 after a brief battle with cancer.
He was born Apr. 20, 1949 to the late Theron and Frances (Werla) Jones. Alan was a graduate of Sun Prairie High School; class of 1967. Following High School he served in the U.S. Army until his discharge on May 24, 1971. Alan married Anne Jensen on Sept. 18, 1971 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Sauk City. He worked for over 25 years for the University of Wisconsin Biochemistry Dept., retiring in 2007. Alan enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and helping his brother in-law, John on the farm. He was an avid bowler, card player, and loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Alan is survived by his wife, Anne; 3 children, Amy (Michael) Moreland of Waunakee, Andy (Joanna) Jones of Roxbury, and Alex (Megan) Jones of Madison; 9 grandchildren, Samantha (Michael) Miller, James (girlfriend Jordan)Moreland, Cory Moreland, Jacob, Julia, Lillian, Ethan, Olive, and Lincoln Jones; 2 great grandchildren, Mia and Maddalynn; his siblings, Arlene Martinez, Mary (Bill) Grulke, Theron (Mary Anne) Jones, Wanda (Curtis) Burton, David (Colleen) Jones, Rose (Fred) Koldeway, Dan, Jeff and Chris Jones.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Jones.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Thur. Jan. 25, 2018 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 100 Oak St., Prairie du Sac, WI. with Pastor Fred Rilling and Intern Pastor Derek Rosenstiel officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:30 am until the time of service. Military Honors will be accorded by the Lachmund-Cramer VFW Post 7694.
In appreciation for the wonderful care Alan received; memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to either Agrace Hospice of Baraboo or St. John’s Lutheran Church, Prairie du Sac.
