Aidan Mccormick

COLUMBUS—Aidan Charles McCormick, the most loving 17-year-old young man, passed away on April 1, 2021 in a motocross accident.

Aidan was born on October 6, 2003 in Columbus, WI to Andy McCormick and Kimberly Schultz. From the very beginning, he lived his life to the fullest and never let anything get in his way. His love for motocross and being at the track began at a young age, and you could always hear him asking, “When can I ride my bike?!” Almost every weekend became a moto weekend with his dad, and his love for the sport only grew stronger year after year. The motocross community brought Aidan close friends, expanded his family, and allowed him to become a mentor that other riders could look up to. Motocross is who he was!

Aidan was a strong, persistent young man and a force to be reckoned with. His heart of gold shined so bright, and his sense of humor, laughter, contagious smile, and outgoing personality was recognized and cherished by everyone around him. It didn’t matter where Aidan was or who he knew, he would find a crowd of people and fit right in – always laughing and joking and making those around him do the same.

From being attached to his mom’s hip as a child to becoming best friends with his dad as he grew older, Aidan was always family-oriented. He so admired his father and wanted to be just like him. His dad will always be his biggest idol, and he will always be a momma’s boy; those bonds will never end. Aidan’s loyalty and love for his friends and family, and his willingness to help anyone who needed it, will never be forgotten.

Aidan’s biggest dream was to make it to Loretta Lynn’s Motocross Championship in Tennessee, and although that dream wasn’t realized on this earth, we know he’s riding endlessly in heaven, free of worry, sadness, fear, time constraints, and injury. He always said when he rode, it felt like he was free. So ride free, buddy. We’ll hold you in our hearts and memories forever.

Aidan is survived by his mother Kimberly Schultz of Columbus; father Andrew McCormick; brother Dylan McCormick; sisters Everly Grace and Aayla Smerling of Columbus; grandparents Keith and Cheri McCormick of Columbus; Bill and Marleen Schultz of Columbus; Micki Polkowske of Pardeeville; Aunt Tammy Larson of Portage; Matt (Marissa) McCormick of Madison, Ben (Keri) McCormick of Janesville; James McCormick (Bambi) of Columbus; many cousins, and one especially close to him, Austin Ramsey of Columbus; and his special friend, Paige Servidone of Fall River.

He is preceded in death by his great grandmas Agnes McCormick and Ella Sutton, Elizabeth Schultz and Elizabeth Pritchard; Great Grandpas James McCormick, Charles Sutton, Ivan Schultz, Robert Prichard and Robert Zinns; and his grandpa Nicholas Polkowske.

Aidan’s parents would like to thank, Kallie Mobry, the First Responders, and medical staff that did everything they could to help save their son.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 12:00 P.M., with visitation starting at 10:00 A.M., on Thursday, April 15th at St. Jerome Catholic Church. Father Garrett Kau will officiate.
