AG concerned about fundraising for Argyle fire victims
Funds not being collected on the Internet
MADISON, Wis. — Some of the efforts to raise money for the victims of a fatal fire in Argyle are getting the attention of the attorney general’s office.
A release from Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen states some individuals may be improperly raising funds and soliciting contributions for the Wand family.
Three children, Allen, Jeffery and Joseph Wand, died in the house fire Sept. 7. Their mother, Sharon Wand, remains at University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison.
Sharon Wand’s aunt, Leesa Bobak, told the attorney general’s office the Wand Children Benefit Fund is not collecting money over the Internet, door to door, or through other direct solicitations.
The Wand Children Benefit Fund briefly used donation canisters, but discontinued their use to avoid confusion.
Donations to the family fund should be sent to:

Van Hollen said people who want to help should make sure their money is going to the people they are seeking to help.
