After election outcome is known, let’s do better than simply cope
We got an email on Monday from a Barneveld viewer asking if perhaps we could offer a post-election editorial on how, despite being upset and disappointed with the outcomes, whatever the outcomes are, “we can begin being positive, cope and not fall into the same pit of snakes?” It just seemed like a really smart and respectful request and we’d like to acknowledge it.
The request was pretty straight forward. There’s not much we can do about the divisiveness that will surely remain part of politics after this election. After all that’s how most of these folks operate and why they ran. Rather it’s up to us, regardless of how we voted, to accept the results, deal with the consequences, and perhaps work to effect change with like-minded citizens. At the very least let’s not get dragged down by short-sighted anger or useless despair. If nothing else, remember this…the race for Mayor of Madison has just begun, and the next Presidential campaign has too.
