Additional construction to start on Capitol Square Monday
MADISON, Wis. — Crews will be restricting traffic beginning Monday for more construction on the Capitol Square , according to a release.
MG&E will be closing right turns from South Carroll Street to South Hamilton Street on Monday, officials said.
The South Carroll Street and West Washington Avenue intersection, which has had restricted turning patterns for the last two weeks, will be reopened.
Also on Monday, Intercon construction will start work on MG&E utilities on the Capitol side of the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Main Street intersection, according to the release.
There will be no access to the Capitol building driveway at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard for about a week, officials said. All other vehicle-turning movements in the intersection will remain open.

The work that’s starting is private utility work, officials said. The city reconstruction project, which will be performed by Capitol Underground, will start March 20.
Metro Transit buses will be on the Capitol Square on their normal routes, according to the release.
