Adam Stanislaw Sliwa
Adam Sliwa, age 70 of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin passed away peacefully Monday, October 23, 2017 at St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo, Wisconsin surrounded by his loving family.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 27, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Wisconsin Dells with Father Eric Sternberg celebrating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Wisconsin Dells. Visitation will be held at the Picha Funeral Home, 321 Washington Avenue, Wisconsin Dells on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Friday at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 10:30 a.m.
Adam was born May 24, 1947 in Zakopane, Poland the son of Kazimierz and Zofia (Chmielewska) Sliwa. Adam and his wife, Maria, met and married in Poland in 1968. Shortly after they married, Adam moved to the United States and began working at Eckrich Sausage Company in Chicago, Illinois. He then worked at a manufacturing plant as a machinist. Adam had more than 30 years of experience as a business owner and manager. In 1978, Adam and Maria first became business owners when they purchased Club Antoinette, a tavern and reception hall, in Chicago, Illinois. In 1985, they sold the business and moved to Wisconsin Dells where they purchased the Playday Motel. After they sold the motel in 2005, they moved to Tomah, Wisconsin and became apartment owners. In 2012, Adam retired and moved back to Wisconsin Dells to be near his family.
Adam was a hard-working individual and pursued his passions in life which included riding his motorcycle, collecting model cars, boating, snowmobiling, traveling with his family and spending time with his grandchildren. Adam was extremely loving and proud of his son and three daughters.
Adam is survived by his wife, Maria; son, Adam (Leah) Sliwa, Jr. of Lake Delton, Wisconsin; daughters, Sophie (Aaron) Tollaksen of Wisconsin Dells, Christine (Cas) Figus of Oak Lawn, Illinois and Barbara Sliwa of Chicago, Illinois; sisters, Ewa Krawczyk and Halina Kasprzak both of Poland; grandchildren, Christopher, Cody, Caden, Colin, Aaron, Halle Kate and Duke; and favorite granddog,
