Ada M. Middagh

Ada M. Middagh, 87, of Dodgeville, WI passed away March 15, 2017 after a decades-long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Ada Mae Butson was born November 16, 1929 to Claire and Gladys (Stephens) Butson in Platteville. She graduated from Platteville High School in 1947. In March 1948, Ada married the love of her life, James Middagh. For the next 40 years, they operated a successful dairy farm, first near Platteville, then in the Mineral Point area, before retiring in 1987. Ada resided the last 12 years of her life in dementia care at Bloomfield Healthcare Center, Dodgeville.

Ada was a happy person, and possessed a playful sense of humor. She will be remembered for her upbeat personality, humorous stories and practical jokes pulled on family and friends alike. She enjoyed reading, writing letters, arts & crafts and especially music. She loved to hum or whistle popular songs from the 1940’s and 50’s and would often sing her favorite church hymns.

Ada is survived by a daughter, Donna (Kevin) Freymiller of Des Moines, IA, a son, Mark (Deborah) Middagh of La Crosse; two granddaughters, Amy (Todd) Jung of Racine and Samantha Freymiller, (Fiance Donny Lenz) of Scottsdale, AZ, and 2 great-grandchildren, Emma and Ben Jung. Ada is also survived by four sisters: Carol (Carlos) Schroeder of Mineral Point; June Jentz of Janesville; Nancy Nicholson of Stillwater OK; Barbara (Gene) Slattery of Ballwin MO, and one sister-in-law, Emma Olson of Harmony, MN.

Ada was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, James, in 2015. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Nodorft and brothers-in-law, Irvin Dimmick, Albert Nodorft, Herman Oellerich, Paul Jentz.

A visitation will take place at 10 am, Monday, March 20th, at the Dodgeville United Methodist Church followed by funeral services at 11:00. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Mineral Point.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Bloomfield Healthcare Center, Dodgeville, WI or the Dodgeville United Methodist Church would be greatly appreciated.
