Activists in Madison join others across the nation in protesting war with Iran

Indivisible Madison organized a protest in James Madison Park against war in the Middle East

Activists in Madison are speaking out about tensions with Iran and demanding that the United States does not go to war.

“We are not going to let him go to war. We support the war powers resolution in congress, there are two of them, and we need to take back the reins. (President Donald Trump) doesn’t get to take back unilateral decisions like this,” Linda Kessel, organizer with Indivisible Madison, said.

A couple dozen demonstrators at James Madison Park said they didn’t agree with the Trump Administration’s decision to launch an air strike that killed Iranian General Qasem Soleimani.

The House approved a non-binding resolution that said Trump must seek approval from congress before engaging in further military action with Iran. The Senate is also expected to take up the issue.
