Abortion advocates hold ‘pink out’ at Wisconsin capitol on same day as special session
MADISON, Wis. — On the same day Republican lawmakers quickly gaveled into and out of a special session on abortion, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin held a “pink out” at the Capitol urging them to repeal the state’s abortion ban.
The protest came prior to the Senate and Assembly gaveling out of the special session in seconds. Gov. Tony Evers called the special session earlier this month in the wake of a leaked draft opinion indicating the high court could overturn the landmark Roe v. Wade abortion case from the 1970s.

Should that happen, Wisconsin’s criminal abortion ban from 1849 could take effect once again.
“It’s incredible to think that they would let politicians from nearly 200 years ago… determine the future and the freedom of people in Wisconsin today,” said Tanya Atkinson, the president of Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin.
Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin is not booking abortion appointments after Saturday due to uncertainty about the court’s expected ruling. The group previously said it plans to partner with its Illinois chapter to provide Wisconsinites abortion access.
