‘A true honor’: Healthcare heroes in Rock County receive special award
JANESVILLE, Wis. — Congressman Bryan Steil on Thursday presented three healthcare heroes a special award during an event at Mercyhealth Hospital in Janesville.
The awards were a surprise to the recipients, Clare O’Dell and Amanda Johnson of Mercyhealth and Beth Schauer of Healthnet for Rock County.
“It’s very humbling to know that the public realizes what the healthcare workers went through with this pandemic and it’s just honoring to know that they recognize us,” Johnson said. “It’s a true honor, I’m still a little bit in shock actually.”
The First Congressional District’s 2022 Health Care Hero Award recognizes health care workers who show exemplary service, hold high stands, go above and beyond the call of duty and show self-sacrifice and selflessness in caring for others.
“Our community is incredibly thankful for each [of] our health care professionals working on the front lines,” Steil said in a news release. “I want to especially thank Clare O’Dell, Amanda Johnson, and Beth Schauer for their dedication to serving others. Their selflessness including working extended hours and putting their patients’ needs first should be commended. I am honored to recognize each of them for their efforts and sacrifices.”
