A group of Rock County cosmetologists raises money for their friend with a ‘Cut-a-Thon’
FOOTVILLE, Wis. — A Rock County woman who has coached wrestling for nearly two decades and fundraised thousands of dollars is now facing a battle of her own.
Kate Brown, 42, is a mom, wife, coach, family member and friend, according to MC’s Hair and Skin owner Abby McGuire.
But Brown recently found out she has Stage 4 Adenocarcinoma small cell cancer, and it has already metastasized to both lungs, the brain and bones.
That’s why McGuire and a few other local cosmetologists came together for a ‘Cut-A-Thon’ at her Footville shop all day Saturday.
The cosmetologists were cutting hair, selling T-shirts, doing a 50/50 raffle, and cutting as much hair as they could.
“I’ve watched these people come together over and over again,” Brown said. “It’s so different to be on the other end of it.”
All of the proceeds from Saturday’s event will go to Brown and her family.
