‘A dream come true:’ UW-Whitewater’s Wisniewski reflects on tryout with Packers

GREEN BAY, Wis. — It was an experience you dream of when you’re a kid growing up in Wisconsin: putting on the Green and Gold as a member of the Green Bay Packers.

Former UW-Whitewater standout Ryan Wisniewski got to live that dream for a couple of days, in the form of the Packers’ rookie minicamp tryout invite.

While he didn’t make the roster this time, Wisniewski is staying ready for another shot, because he knows last week was just the beginning.

“It really didn’t sink in until the last 30 minutes that, wow, this was an awesome experience and I learned a lot and got to walk past Aaron Rodgers’ locker,” Wisniewski said. “I grew up around football since I was born, really, and that’s the one thing you dream of, playing for any NFL team and getting out there in the bright lights, I mean, it would mean the world.”
