9-year-old boy pulled from Mississippi River dies

9-year-old boy in critical care after being pulled from Mississippi River Sunday

A nine-year-old boy died after being pulled from the Mississippi River in Blackhawk Park in De Soto, the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Wednesday.

At about 12:20 p.m. Sunday the Sheriff’s Office received a call for a young boy who was missing from the beach. The boy was found by a private search party in the water just outside of the roped off swimming area.

The Sheriff’s Office said the boy was under water for about 30 to 45 minutes. The boy’s name has not been released.
