$70K worth of damage estimated in Springdale garage fire
SPRINGDALE, Wis. — Officials estimated damage at over $70,000 after a fire Friday night destroyed a Springdale garage, according to a news release.
Dane County dispatchers said the call for the fire came in just before 10 p.m. Mount Horeb, Verona and Cross Plains fire departments were at the scene on the 2600 block of County Highway J.
The fire took place in a two-vehicle, unattached garage, which was fully engulfed in flames when officials arrived, according to a news release.
There were no injuries, according to the Dane County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials said the garage’s contents, including two vehicles and a skid steer, were a total loss with damage estimated at over $70,000.
Deputies believe the fire was started by an adjacent wood-burning stove outside of the garage, according to the release.
The Dane County Sheriff’s Office shut down part of County Highway J for two hours as firefighters responded to the fire.
