7 To Stand Trial In North Side Shooting Death
Seven alleged gang members have been ordered to stand trial in a Madison shooting death that occurred last month.
Devante James, 16, testified at a preliminary hearing on Tuesday under an immunity deal, meaning it can’t be used against him at further proceedings.
The Wisconsin State Journal reported that he’s one of seven charged with being a party to first-degree intentional homicide for the Oct. 20 death of Jonathan Wilson.
James testified that most of them planned to go fight a group that chased and beat James’ brother, Levante James, earlier that day. But he said the plan shifted and the group decided to bring guns, but he didn’t witness Wilson’s shooting.
A hearing will be set to decide whether James will remain charged as an adult or be transferred to juvenile court.
