The Madison Sports Hall of Fame inducted its 50th class on Wednesday night.

This year’s class featured longtime high school baseball coach Tom Bennett, curler Steve Brown, U.S. Olympic swimmer Jay Mortenson and track All-American Dr. Ellen Olson Wermuth.

Bennett coached at Madison Memorial High School for 30 years and won two state titles.

Brown won three U.S. men’s national curling championships.

Mortenson swam for Madison West High School, then Stanford University, and won a gold medal in the 1998 Olympics.

Wermuth ran at West High School and was a three-time All-American at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

There are now more than 200 members in the Madison Sports Hall of Fame.

The ceremony took place at the Monona Terrace in downtown Madison.
