4-hour armed standoff ends peacefully

A man was taken into custody after a standoff on Madison’s west side that lasted about four hours early Tuesday morning.

Madison police said officers were called to a domestic disturbance at 12:42 a.m. in Oak Glen Court. Officers were told a man was possibly armed with a gun. The man left the area before officers arrived.

Police said the man’s car was spotted and he fled before an officer could make contact.

The man drove back to the area of Oak Glen Court where a standoff started, according to police. A passenger got out of the man’s vehicle and told police there were two guns in the car.

The man surrendered after four hours of negotiation, according to police.
