32 trucks salting, pushing snow throughout Madison on Friday night

Cheese brine is Milwaukee’s latest deicer

MADISON, Wis. — Madison Streets Division crews are out Friday night after it snowed throughout the afternoon and into the evening.

Thirty-two trucks are hitting the city’s salt routes. Officials said they will be salting and pushing snow on the main streets of Madison — roads used by Madison Metro and other thoroughfares — for the duration of the storm.

Three additional trucks will apply sand to the hills, curves and intersections that do not meet salt requirements but need some material for travelers to gain traction.

City officials ask anyone who is driving to allow for plenty of travel time and stopping distance.

Streets Division staff will continue to monitor the roads and the weather throughout the weekend.
