3-year-old may need rabies shots after dog bite
Child bitten while at west side park
MADISON, Wis. — A 3-year-old child may need rabies shots soon unless the owner of the dog that was involved can be located, according to Madison police.
The incident happened about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Haen Family Park in the 7700 block of Tree Lane.
According to police, the child suffered a puncture wound to his wrist after he got too close to the dog, which pulled away from its owner. Police determined after the dog and owner had left the park that the child might need to start getting shots if the dog isn’t located.
Police describe the dog as a gray pit bull, with white spots and one large white spot on chest. Police say the owner of the dog is described as a white male in his teens or early twenties with red hair. He was last seen wearing a white baseball hat with an orange “T” on front.
Police are asking people who have any information to contact Animal Control at (608) 266-4948.
