3 teens injured in single-vehicle rollover crash, officials say
Police: Speed, alcohol believed to be factors in crash; 3 occupants not wearing seat belts
TOWN OF EXCELSIOR, Wis. — Three teenagers were injured, one with life-threatening injuries, in a single-vehicle rollover crash in Sauk County early Sunday morning, according to a release from the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office.
Sauk County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to reports of a one-vehicle crash on North Reedsburg Road near Northwoods Drive in the town of Excelsior Sunday around 1:45 a.m., officials said.
A 2008 Chevrolet Lumina was driving westbound on North Reedsburg Road by Cody C. Hermanson, 19, of Reedsburg, investigators said. Hermanson lost control of the Lumina after cresting a hill in the road, and the vehicle rolled over in a field.
Hermanson and the other occupants, Tanya M. Passehl, 18, of Medford, and Lonnie R. Nolan, 16, of Athens, were ejected from the vehicle, according to the release. They were all transported to Reedsburg Area Medical Center by Reedsburg Ambulance, but because of Hermanson’s life-threatening injuries, he was later transported to UW Hospital by Med Flight. Passehl and Nolan suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
None of the occupants were wearing seat belts, and speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash, officials said.
Hermanson will be charged with causing injury by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle, driving too fast for conditions, inattentive driving and unreasonable and imprudent speeding.Crash in town of Excelsior
