3 teens charged in sandwich delivery driver robbery, police say
MADISON, Wis. — Three teens face charges in connection with the robbery of a food delivery driver on Madison’s near east side Saturday afternoon.
Madison police said a driver for Crostini Sandwiches had pulled over in the 2300 block of Superior Street at about 1:30 p.m. to check directions on a delivery when his passenger door swung open.
According to the report, a robber told the 18-year-old driver, “Look I am going to need all this,” and tried to grab the driver’s keys from the ignition and his cellphone.
Police said the driver was able to maintain possession of his belongings. The robber took the bags of sandwiches and fled to a nearby car with two other teens inside.
The worker was shaken, but observant, and he called police with a description of the getaway car and its plate number, the report said. An officer spotted the car and pulled it over near East Johnson Street and North Paterson Street.
The stolen food was found inside and the three occupants were arrested on suspicion of being party to robbery, police said.
