3 injured in drunken driving crash near Brodhead, police say
TOWN OF DECATUR, Wis. — Three people were injured early Sunday morning in a single-vehicle drunken driving crash in Green County, officials said.
Green County sheriff’s deputies and emergency crews from Brodhead responded around 2:40 a.m. to the N2600 block of Red Cedar Lane for reports of a single-vehicle crash with injuries, according to a release.
Trent W. Gerber, 27, of Brodhead was driving south on Red Cedar Lane when the truck left the road and struck a tree, officials said.
Gerber was injured in the crash, according to the release. He was taken to Janesville Mercy Hospital.
Two passengers, 28-year-old Steffan J. Guilbault, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, and 28-year-old James M. Covert, of Brodhead, were also injured in the crash. They were taken to the Monroe emergency room, officials said.
All three occupants were wearing their seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the release.
Gerber was arrested on a tentative charge of operating while under the influence causing injury. He was also cited for failure to maintain control of a vehicle.
