3 injured, 2 cited in Hwy 14 crash
Police: Vehicle lost control because of snowy road conditions, driving too fast
TOWN OF BRADFORD, Wis. — Three people suffered minor injuries in a crash that closed Highway 14 east of Janesville for five hours, officials said.
Crews responded to a three-vehicle crash on Highway 14 near Emerald Grove Road around 8:35 a.m. Wednesday, according to a release.
Investigators said a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser, driven by Alby Glembocki, 22, of Burlington, was westbound on Highway 14 when the vehicle started drifting over the center line white negotiating a curve and went into the path of an eastbound semitrailer, being driven by Daniel Baker, 45, of Waukesha.
Police believe the vehicle crossed the center line because of snowy road conditions, according to the release. Baker attempted to swerve into the south ditch to avoid crashing with the Chrysler but was not able to, and the two vehicles collided head-on.
The Chrysler continued into the north ditch and the semitrailer continued into the south ditch where it caught fire, deputies said.
Just after the first crash, a 2008 Chevy Impala, driven by Ani Harper, 24, of Janesville, was westbound on Highway 14 when the vehicle in front of her slowed down for the first collision, according to the release. Harper then entered the eastbound lane of traffic to pass the vehicle that had slowed down, causing her to collide with the rear axle of the semitrailer that was in the eastbound lane of traffic.
Glembocki was extricated from the vehicle and transported, along with her passenger, Talia Acosta, 20, of Janesville, to a local hospital where they were treated and released for minor injuries, according to the release. Harper was also treated and released for minor injuries.
Highway 14 was closed for approximately five hours, officials said. The highway was reopened around 1 p.m. after the scene was cleared.
Glembocki was cited for driving too fast for conditions and operating left of center. Harper was cited for operating left of center.Highway 14 near Emerald Grove Road, Rock County
