$2,700 trike stolen from garage in Madison neighborhood

An expensive cyclewas stolen from a Madison neighborhood last week, prompting police to remind residents of a step they can take to protect their property.

Madison police said a 53-year-old woman living on Mound Street reported her Catrike Expedition recumbent trike stolen from her garage on June 1.

Police said there continue to be a number of bike thefts reported in the city.

The Catrike is valued at $2,700, according to a news release.

Police asked anyone with information on the missing trike is urged to contact Madison Area Crime Stoppers.

Police Thursday also encouraged bike owners to keep a serial number record of their property. If a bike is stolen, the serial number will help police track and recover it.
