Numerous shell casings were found at the scene of a car crash and a shots fired call on Madison’s southwest side, according to a release from Madison police.

Officers were called at 11:54 p.m. Monday to the 3100 block of Muir Field Road where residents reported hearing multiple gunshots, a revving car engine and the sounds of a car crash.

The shell casings were found in an apartment complex parking lot, police said. There were no reports of injuries or damage.

Police said they found an unoccupied car with its airbags deployed smashed into a tree near the crime scene.

Witnesses told police two people were seen getting out of the car and running toward Sonora Court.
