2 new construction projects to start on Madison’s west side

Two construction projects are expected to start Monday on two roads on Madison’s west side, according to a release.

Regent Street between Monroe and Randall streets will be closed starting Monday for crews to replace the main sanitary sewer line, officials said.

Both directions of traffic will be in the existing westbound lanes of Regent Street, according to the release.

The road will be closed at 7 a.m. on Monday, and is expected to reopen at 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Construction work will also delay the intersection of Midvale Boulevard and Mineral Point Road Monday.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction, and left turns will not be allowed, officials said.

Crews will be adding left-turn lanes on Mineral Point Road, and will be installing new pavement, curb and gutter, street lights, traffic signals, and sanitary sewer and water mains, according to the release.

Construction is expected to last through October.

Two Metro Transit bus stops will be closed during the construction.
