2 Madison men charged with robbing bank, 5 businesses
Robberies reportedly happened in Dane, Columbia counties
MADISON, Wis. — Two Madison men were charged Wednesday with the robbery of five businesses and a bank in Dane and Columbia counties between Sept. 28 and Oct. 11, according to a release.
The indictment says Peter Meeker, 48, and Karl Kreier, 28, robbed Willow Tavern in the town of Westport on Sept. 28, Check n’ Go on Zeier Road in Madison on Oct. 4, Super Cuts on Zeier Road in Madison on Oct. 7, Subway on County Road CS in the town of Dekorra on Oct. 8, BP Gas Station on Main Street in the village of Dane on Oct. 9 and the Bank of Poynette in Lodi on Oct. 11.
The two men allegedly robbed the Willows Tavern, Check n’ Go, Subway, BP Gas Station and Bank of Poynette at gunpoint, according to the release.
On Oct. 29, Meeker and Kreier were indicted for armed bank robbery and brandishing a firearm during a robbery, officials said. They appeared in U.S. District Court on Nov. 5, and were detained in custody pending a trial, which has been set for March 2.
Of convicted, Meeker and Kreier face up to 25 years in federal prison on the armed bank robbery charge and 20 years on each of the other robberies.
