2 injured in accidental shooting in Waunakee, police say

Officials: 28-year-old in stolen truck tops 100mph during chase

Two people went to Meriter Hospital Monday afternoon for non-life-threatening injuries from what police believe was an accidental discharge of a firearm.

Waunakee police said officers were sent to Meriter Hospital around 3:30 p.m. for a report of two people with gunshot wounds.

A 40-year-old man and a 18-year-old woman had a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg, according to a release.

The firearm has been recovered, and there is no threat to public safety, officials said.
