LITTLE FALLS, Wis. — Two people were injured during a head-on crash Thursday morning on Highway 27 in Monroe County.

The crash happened around 6:30 a.m. near where Highway 27 and County Road S meet in the town of Little Falls.

Authorities arrived to find a 2015 GMC Arcadia blocking both lanes of traffic and a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer off the road and against a line of trees.

A witness told officers the northbound GMC Arcadia crossed the centerline and struck the Trailblazer head-on.

The driver of the GMC Arcadia was identified as 31-year-old William Hoover, according to a release from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. The driver of the Trailblazer was identified as 55-year-old Dawn Zillmer, the release said.

Zillmer was cut from the vehicle by crews with the Sparta Area Fire Department, the release said. Both drivers were injured and taken to a nearby hospital.

Hoover was later taken into custody for reckless driving causing injury, operating a motor vehicle with a restricted controlled substance causing injury and felony bail jumping, the release said.
