2 confirmed dead, serious injuries in I-43 crash, officials say
CLINTON, Wis. — Two people died in a three-vehicle crash Sunday morning on I-43 in Rock County near Clinton, according to the Wisconsin State Patrol.
The initial crash involved a tractor-trailer traveling southbound that struck a suburban reportedly stopped or moving slowly in the right lane with hazard lights on, officials said.
When the semi truck struck the vehicle, it overcorrected and then rolled into a ditch with its trailer landing in the right lane. This resulted in a collision with a pickup truck traveling southbound, according to a news release.
According to officials, the two occupants in the pickup truck, Cecilio Rodriguez Jr. and Hesham Abdelrahim, were fatally injured.
One additional occupant was critically injured, and three occupants in the suburban were seriously injured, according to the release.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured, officials said.
The crash remains under investigation, according to WisDOT.
