Police: East High School student suffers non-life-threatening injuries
MADISON, Wis. — A Madison East High School student was injured after being partially run over by a school bus while skateboarding Thursday afternoon, officials said.
Madison police said the 16-year-old was skateboarding on North Fourth Street near East Dayton Street around 12:15 p.m. when part of his body ended up under a Head Start school bus, and was run over.
The student appears to have suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to a release.
Investigators said it is not clear how the 16-year-old ended up colliding with the bus, but a preliminary investigation indicated the driver was not at fault.
The driver told police they heard a thud and stopped at North Fourth Street, according to the release.
It is illegal to a ride a skateboard in the roadway unless crossing the road at a crosswalk, police said.
