16-year-old rear-ends mom’s SUV near Cuba City

A 16-year-old Dodgeville girl rear-ended her mom in a crash on a Grant County roadway Thursday evening, officials said.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded at 6:38 p.m. to a report of a two-vehicle crash on Highway 151 north at Jimtown Road in the town of Jamestown.

According to the report, the 34-year-old Dodgeville woman was driving her 2009 Chrysler Aspen SUV on Highway 151 and her 16-year-old daughter was following her in a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am car.

The sheriff’s office said the teen didn’t see that her mother was making a right turn onto Jimtown Road. When she saw her mother turning, the girl tried to brake but wasn’t able to and she hit the rear of the SUV, which pushed the SUV off the road onto Jimtown Road. The Grand Am left the road on the northeast corner and stopped in the ditch.

The crash caused minor damage to the rear of the SUV and severe damage to the front end of the car, according to the report.

The sheriff’s office said the teen reported a possible minor injury and she was taken by her mother for evaluation at a medical facility.
