16 stolen laptops discovered stashed in downtown Madison apartment, police say
MADISON, Wis. — More than a dozen laptops stolen from a Madison neighborhood center this week were found stashed in an unoccupied apartment Thursday, police said.
The Madison Police Department said a man in the process of moving into a Waunona Way apartment called police Wednesday afternoon when he discovered the sliding glass door to his unit shattered.
According to the release, officers cleared the apartment and found no one, but they did discover a box of laptop computers and a plastic tote containing many more.
Police said it appeared the computers are the same laptops that were stolen from the Bridge Lake Point Waunona Neighborhood Center overnight Monday.
The thief may have stashed the loot in the apartment, as it likely appeared to be unoccupied, according to police. The Burglary Crimes Unit is investigating.
