14-year-old boy leads deputies on car chase
Teen issued a number of citations
ALBANY, Wis. — A 14-year-old boy led Green County Sheriff’s deputies on a dangerous, high-speed chase overnight.
Authorities said deputies tried to stop a vehicle around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, which was traveling on State Highway 59 east of Peebles Road in Albany Township.
The vehicle gained speed and started to drive in the oncoming lane of traffic, according to police.
Deputies chased the vehicle through Albany, as it turned onto County Highway E and drove through the oncoming lane of traffic again.
The driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree in the W1300 block of County Highway E.
The driver turned out to be a 14-year-old boy from Albany. He suffered minor injuries.
The vehicle was severely damaged.
The boy was issued a number of citations, including possessing tobacco, operating without a valid driver’s license, and driving in the wrong lane.
Authorities said the teen will be referred to Juvenile Intake for a felony charge of fleeing officers.
